Babworth - stage 1

This is a private commission for some friends that were married on a beautiful sunny day at this church in Nottinghamshire that has connections to The Pilgrim Fathers. It was a lovely Summer day with a clear blue sky, sunlight dappling the ground in front of the church and Summer flowers amongst the gravestones. I am setting the clock to 2 pm which is the time they got married and will try to recreate that special day in this painting. This first stage has been "drawn" up with a small bristle brush using a mix of Burnt Sienna and Winsor Violet thinned with Liquin and turpentine.
I will have to leave it now until Tuesday when I return from a few days away.
