Clearing Rain, Meenakshi Temple - stage 1
Another painting based on a gouache sketch this time from the roof of an antiques shop in Madurai that overlooked the Shri Meenakshi Temple. As usual at this time of year there had been an afternoon rainstorm which interrupted my painting but I managed to finish it when it was over and the afternoon sun caught the light in the damp air. This painting is trying to recapture that moment and I am having to rely on memory as the camera was unable to capture it. The original sketch can be seen above. This painting will feature in my upcoming article on gathering reference for paintings when abroad for the Artists & Illustrators magazine. This shows the first stage of the basic drawing and blocking-in with Burnt Sienna oil paint.
It's interesting that many of the bloggers to helped clarify a few things for me as well as giving. Most of ideas can be nice content. The people to give them a good shake to get your point and across the command .
